The index measures how corrupt the public sector in each country is perceived to be, based on the opinions of experts and businesspeople.
Germany has performed worse this year compared to the previous one. In the 2024 ranking, Germany has fallen three places and now ranks 15th out of 180 countries. Since 2021, the trend has been steadily downward.
